Interview with François Blanc (Créapress)

Covers of two issues of Apple Utilisateur, 1989. Art Direction : Francois Blanc and Angelo Di Marco
On November 26 and December 10, 2025, Clémence Imbert conducted two interviews with François Blanc, founder of the agency Créapress. Having recognized early on the potential of desktop publishing (DTP) tools, François Blanc founded this agency in 1986, specializing in editorial consulting and the creation of brand and consumer magazines. Its clients include Apple France and P-Ingénierie (a distributor of Adobe and Quark products in France). In collaboration with prominent art directors such as Haymo Kindler and Angelo Di Marco, Créapress produced—entirely on Macintosh—the magazines Apple Flash, Apple Hebdo, and Apple Utilisateur. Créapress was also a pioneer in networked work and web publishing.
François Blanc’s account helps to understand how digital tools and DTP contributed to the emergence of new forms of press, such as consumer magazines, as well as how they reorganized editorial workflows and transformed the work of art directors and layout designers.
